Dhamma School Programme for 'Tripitakabhivandana Week'

Variety of programmes centering the all dhamma scools in the Mahawilachchiya Divisional Secretariat division , were organized to educate dhamma school students on the 'tripitaka' marking the second day of Tripitakabhivandana week which falls today (March 17th).

During this event , the students were given the pledge of 'Tripitakabhivandana'.

Pindapatha Arms Giving for 'Tripitakabhivandana' Week

pindapatha7 'Tripitakabhivandana' week, to mark the occasion of initiating the process to declare the Theravada Tripitaka as a World Heritage, began today the 16th March 2019. The programme will continue untill March 23.

Starting the week long ceremonies , 'Pindapatha" alms giving was conducted today based on the Pemaduwa Sri Sumangala Piriven Viharaya in Mahawilachchiya Divisional Secretariat Division.

71st National Independence Day Celebration

The Divisional Secretariat level National Independence Day celebration, which was organized to celebrate 71^st Independence Day concurrently with main national program was held at the Mahawilachchiya Divisional Secretariat premises in a splendid manner on February 04,2019 under the patronage of Mahawilachchiya Divisional Secretary Mr. E.R. Thilakarathna with the participation of whole staff commemorating its independence from British rule on February 04, 1948.

The event commenced with the Divisional Secretary hoisting the National Flag. Then National Anthem was sung , which was followed by a two minutes silence observed in memory of the fallen war heroes.

Making his address to the staff , Divisional Secretary said that as government officers everyone should carry out their duties properly and contribute to achieve a sustainable development in Sri Lanka. Finally marking the 71^st Independence celebration Shramadana campaign was held with the participation of all members of the staff.
